Options Employment (North) Ltd are currently looking for Contracts Managers to be based in Glasgow and cover an area from the Northern Islands of Scotland down to Newcastle.

The Client

My client is one of the construction industries leading specialist contractors providing a quality design and installation service for the external building envelope packages including roofs, walls, glazing, architectural features and ancillaries.

The Job

As Contracts Manager, your role is to take responsibility for overseeing the projects on one or two sites in the area and would need to regularly visit the various sites according to the priorities and demands of the projects.  Continuous training and development will be provided to fully support your career with the company.

You will be a motivated team leader with a willingness to develop their role within a team environment.  Candidates will have previous experience working for a specialist subcontractor with a stable employment history. Be capable of managing projects between £3 and £5 million, with a track record of successful project completion, repeat clients and a number of new projects awarded.

Role

The main elements of the role are:

  • Be the Company's key point of contact for the main contractor;
  • Attend client liaison meetings;
  • Build, manage and coordinate the project team;
  • Plan forthcoming site labour requirements;
  • Ensure capable and appropriate levels of site installation labour resources;
  • Ensure projects are completed on time and in accord with agreed programmes of work;
  • Safeguard the Company's position by ensuring relevant site events are recorded and reported in writing to the Main Contractor quickly and contractually;
  • Support the installation sub-contractors in the progressing, prompt delivery and ordering of materials;
  • Ensure incurred installation labour costs are in line with estimated costs;
  • Ensure attendance and preliminary costs are in line with estimated costs maintain close contact with the main contractor at site level at all stages of the contract;
  • Ensure all works on site are undertaken in accordance with safe working practices and current Health and Safety legislation, be constantly vigilant to any actual or potential hazards, and encourage such vigilance among all site personnel;
  • Ensure the installations are carried out in accordance with the System Company procedures and the Company's working drawings;
  • Formulate and implement site inspection practices to safeguard good quality installation and finished product;
  • Assist in the preparation of method statements, COSSH, Risk Assessments and Quality plans;
  • Keep a detailed daily site diary of labour levels, weather, relevant events etc;
  • Set an example of the Company's professional image at all levels of contact, and ensure similar conduct from sub-contractors and supervisors.

You will have attended the CITB Site Manager Safety Course and hold a CSCS Black Card.
